Born in 1976, in Oeiras, Portugal, Ana Gonçalves studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon and has a postgraduate degree in Curatorial Studies.

Her art practice comprehends drawing, painting and mixed media. In 2012, she started working mainly from reference images, in order to focus on qualities of space and atmosphere.
