HA THA AND OTHER LANDSCAPES
In 2009 I went to the Island of São Miguel in the Azores, where I stayed for two years. This series of small collages with silk paper and found images was made there, in 2010.
The contemplation of the cycles of nature was my most relevant inspiration at the time. Also, the realization that the circle was an appropriate figure to stand for the kind of harmonious movement between an inner and an outer space, that I was experiencing then.
Ha means Sun, and Tha means Moon. Two words that can be found in the Yoga tradition, in “Hatha Yoga”. Ha stands for the exuberance of the islands, and Tha for the inner journey I had took.
